Almaz (1936)
1930s. Almaz, a young female teacher who comes to work in a remote village, encounters obstacles on the way to the development and strengthening of a new organization.
In the film “Almaz”, dialogues are given through intertitles (script). The events in the film are accompanied by music. Since special music was composed for the film, “Almaz” is also shown in some sources as a sound film.
The film was shot on location in the village of Dedagunesh, Shamakhi. The schoolyard scene was shot in the courtyard of the film factory, and the mosque scene was shot in Mashtaga.
Jafar Jabbarli himself was supposed to direct the film. He even completed all the preparatory work related to the filming of the film. However, his sudden death left this work unfinished.
The film is dedicated to the memory of Jafar Jabbarli.
The film was shot based on the motifs of Jafar Jabbarli’s work “Almaz”.
The film was included in the list of films declared state heritage in the Republic of Azerbaijan by Resolution No. 211 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 7, 2019.
