Asgar Ismayilov was born in Tbilisi.
He entered the Higher Technical Institute of Art in Moscow (1928). Two years later, he was transferred to the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography.
In 1936, after completing his studies, he returned to Baku and continued to work at the “Azerfilm” film studio. He was sent to Moscow and studied the technology of color films. In 1947, he shot the first color documentary, the screenplay “Bakudan Goy-Goladak”. He organized a club at the film studio and taught his colleagues the technique of shooting films in color. On his initiative and under his editorship, a special textbook on color film technology was translated from German.
Honored Artist Asgar Ismayilov died in 1983.
