Mammad Alili was born in Baku.
He was engaged in various jobs from an early age to help support his family. While studying at the Mollahana, he starred in the film “In the Kingdom of Oil and Millions”. Jafar Jabbarli recruited him to the school. He studied at the Baku Theater Technical School (1929). He worked in the theater as a prompter, troupe manager, performance manager, assistant director, and director. In 1932, he learned directing while working in the auxiliary staff of the Maly Theater in Moscow. He was sent to the Chechen-Ingush ASSR to create a professional theater. Jafar Jabbarli invited him to Baku. During the filming of the film “The Conquerors of the Sea”, he shot some shots in the middle of a fire, and the scene was taken naturally because of this. He was declared an honorary citizen of the Oil Rocks.
He starred in the film “Freedom is a Sweet Word” (1972, directed by Vytautas Zhalakiavičius / Russia, Lithuania) by foreign film producers.
Honored Artist (1960) Mammad Alili died in 1993.
