Alasgar Alakbarov was born in Baku.

He studied at the Baku Realny School (1918) and the Baku Theater Technical School (1927-1930).

His childhood was difficult because he lost his father at the age of 10, but his passion for theater did not diminish. He joined the drama club at the Abilov club. He worked at the Baku Turkish Workers' Theater from his student years. When the Baku Turkish Workers' Theater was transferred to Ganja in 1933, he also went to Ganja for a short time. He worked at the Tbilisi Azerbaijani Theater and the Ganja Theater for several years. Since 1933, he has been working at the Academic Drama Theater. In 1959, he played "Othello" at the Decade of Azerbaijani Culture and Literature in Moscow. Despite his high skill, he is not among those awarded honorary titles. Therefore, he stayed away from the theater for a certain period of time. Later, he returned to his native theater. He became a deputy of the 6th convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

He played the role of Father Aquila in the film "Kiev: Heirs" (1960, directed by Timofey Levchuk) by Ukrainian filmmakers.

Honored Artist (1938), People's Artist (1940), People's Artist of the USSR (1961) Alasgar Alakbarov died in 1963 and was buried in the Alley of Honor.


Actor Alasgar Alakbarov was the husband of actress Hokuma Gurbanova.
