Ahmad Gamarlinski (Ahmad Malikov) was born in Baku.
He studied at Sultanmajid Ganizadeh's school.
He first appeared on stage in 1907 in Balakhani in the play "It has a name, it is not" (Najafbey Vezirov), prepared by amateur actors. Later, he became an actor in the theater troupe under the "Nijat" Society. Since 1908, he has been touring villages, performing in the most remote corners. When the troupes in Baku merged in 1919 and began operating as the State Drama Theater, he was accepted into the acting troupe of the collective (1919-1938). He also acted in the Baku Turkish Free Criticism and Propaganda Theater (1921-1924). He worked for a while at the Azerbaijan State Musical Comedy Theater (1938-1939).
He also worked as a playwright, and 12 of his works were staged.
He played the role of Ahmed Aliyev in the Russian film "The Nineteenth Year" (1938, directed by Ilya Trauberg).
The nickname Gamarlinski was given to him by Huseyn Arablinski: while returning from a tour in the village of Gamarli, he suggested the pseudonym Gamarlinski to his friend, and Ahmad bore this surname until the end of his life.
Honored Artist (1940) Ahmad Gamarlinski died in 1952.
