Taghiyev. Sona (2025)
1896. In the spring of his 58th year, Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev was still strong, enthusiastic and enterprising. Spending the summer months in his summer house in Mardakan seemed boring to him. Haji was making plans to open a gardening school here, thinking about expanding his business in other areas besides oil, and even considering selling his oil empire. His eldest son Ismail did not understand this at all - after all, how could one sell a business that brought in so much profit? Haji was not only thinking about business; he was lonely. The lifestyle of Baku millionaires around numerous mistresses was alien to Haji. Haji needed to start a family, a friend, a confidant, and a sympathizer. With these thoughts in mind, he came up with the idea of marrying Sona khanum, the daughter of General Balakishi Arablinski. Sona is also the younger sister of Nurjahan Arablinski, the wife of Haji's son Ismail. This desire of Haji is met with confusion in the Arablinski family and causes Ismayil's anger. As a result, Haji gets his wish - Sona agrees to marry him, and her parents make concessions to him for the sake of their daughter's happiness. But this marriage results in a split in the Tagiyev family - it creates a deep chasm between Haji and his son Ismayil.
The working title of the film is "The Protector". The film is the 3rd film in a 4-part series.
The film was shot with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
