Maharram Musayev was born in the village of Sharafeh, Masalli region.

He studied at the Drama and Film Acting Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute (1971-1975). He took a two-year directing course from Mark Zakharov in Moscow (1985-1987).

Although he was appointed to the newly opened Sheki Theater in 1975, he worked at the Lankaran State Theater at his own request. He moved to Baku in 2000. He worked at the Azerbaijan State Youth Theater (2001-2009), the Azerbaijan State Theater for Young Spectators (2009-2019).

He is currently an actor at the Irevan State Azerbaijan Drama Theater.

He starred in the Russian-produced series “Studenti International” (2006, directed by Olga Perunovskaya).
