Farman Karimzadeh was born in the village of Boyuk Vedi, Vedi region of Armenia. When he was 12 years old, they were deported from Western Azerbaijan and settled in Beylagan. He graduated from secondary school in the village of Shahsevan, Beylagan region (1954).

He studied at the Azerbaijan State Art School named after Azim Azimzade (1955-1960) and at the Higher Script Courses of the All-Union Institute of Cinematography in Moscow (1965-1967).

He worked as a secondary school teacher in Ismayilli and Zhdanov (now Beylagan) districts (1962-1965), a literary worker, department head, and executive secretary in the editorial office of the "Yuksalish" district newspaper (1962-1965), a translator, senior editor at the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee, a literary worker, department head in the "Absheron" and "Literature and Art" newspapers (1966-1970), a board member at the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio named after Jafar Jabbarli (1970-1977), a special correspondent for the "Literature and Art" newspaper (1977-1980), and the director of the Shuvalan House of Creativity (1980-1981).

Farman Karimzadeh died in 1989.

Writer, screenwriter Farman Karimzadeh is the father of screenwriter Yegana Karimzadeh.
