Azerbaijan State Film Fund
Date of establishment: 1993
Director: Jamil Guliyev
The Azerbaijan State Film Fund (ADFF) was established under the “Azerkinovideo” Production Union by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic dated December 22, 1993. Since 2000, it has been part of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in connection with the liquidation of the Azerkinovideo PU.
The fund, which has been operating since 1994, moved to a new building in 2008. With a total area of approximately 6.6 thousand square meters, the ADFF houses administrative rooms equipped with technical equipment, a laboratory, a 108-seat auditorium, auxiliary rooms, a room equipped with a film projection and acoustic system, and boxes storing various types of film materials.
The ADFF preserves and stores 64,372 storage units of film materials, about 20,000 various photographic documents, about 14,000 original documents, exhibits and materials (literary and director's scripts of films, editing sheets, diplomas and awards, etc.). Copies of the first chronicle frames that formed the basis of our national cinema ("Fire of the oil fountain in Bibiheybet" and "Oil fountain in Balakhany", 1898) were brought from the French film archive and stored at the ADFF. As a result of searches, negatives and positives of photographic documents of our prominent artists - composers Gara Garayev, Fikret Amirov, Niyazi, Tofig Guliyev and Muslim Magomayev - were brought to the Fund from the Russian Federation, Canada, Georgia and other countries.
A special "Kinobulletin" is published and books are published about the films preserved in the Fund.
Events and anniversaries of prominent film figures are held throughout the year.
The institution organizes its work in five directions:
- Restoration and preservation of films;
- Promotion of cinema art;
- Collection and preservation of film archive materials and artifacts;
- Conducting scientific research and investigation work;
- Maintaining international relations in film archive work
The Foundation has been a member of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) since 1999.
The Film Museum operates under the Foundation.
