Yusif Samadoghlu (Yusif Vakilov) was born in Baku.
He studied at the Maxim Gorky Institute of Literature (1953-1957), the Faculty of Philology of Azerbaijan State University (1957-1958).
He worked as a literary worker in the editorial office of the "Azerbaijan" magazine, head of the prose department (1960-1965), a member of the script editorial board of the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio (1965-1969), editor-in-chief, deputy director of the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio (1969-1976), editor-in-chief of the "Ulduz" magazine (1976-1987), editor-in-chief of the "Azerbaijan" magazine (since 1987). He was elected to the secretariat of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union (secretary for prose) (1991).
He began his literary career in 1953 with the story "Bloody Bread". Author of many books.
Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan (1991). Awarded the Order of "Glory" (1995).
Honored Artist (1979), People's Writer (1998) Yusif Samadoghlu died in 1998 and was buried in the Alley of Honor.
Writer Yusif Samadoghlu is the son of poet Samad Vurghun.
Writer Yusif Samadoghlu is the brother of poet Vagif Samadoghlu.
