Vagif Aliyev was born in Baku.
He studied at the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute (1962-1968).
In 1958, he began his career at the Azerbaijan State Drama Theater, first appearing on stage in mass scenes, then in episodic roles. In 1968, he was assigned to the Sumgayit State Drama Theater, where he worked as an actor for 33 years. From 2000 to 2021, he worked at the Baku Municipal Theater.
He starred in the Iranian film "Dreams" (2005, directed by Rahbar Qanbari).
Honored Artist (1990), People's Artist (2002) Vagif Aliyev died in 2021.
