Suleyman Valiyev was born in the Ramana settlement of Baku.
He participated in battles during World War II. After the war, he studied at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute. He began his journalistic activity in the newspaper "Neft uzdag" published in Lokbatan. For a while, he was a correspondent in the newspapers "Azerbaijani yuljani" and "Kommunist", a literary worker in the magazine "Inqilab ve muyendiyet", an employee of the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio, and the head of the Military Patriotism Department of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union.
His first story, "Savings Bank", was published in the magazine "Hücum" (1932). He is the author of more than 30 books.
Honored Cultural Worker (1977), Honored Art Worker (1987) Suleyman Veliyev died in 1996 and was buried in the II Alley of Honor.
