Shua Sheykhov was born in Nakhchivan. He studied at the Baku Theater School (1926), the Theater Directing Department of the Moscow State Experimental Theater Workshop (1927-1931), and the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1935-1936).
He began his stage career at the Free Criticism and Preaching Theater at the age of seventeen (1922). He directed at the TRAM (Workers and Youth Theater) and the Derbent Azerbaijan Theater (1931-1935). After returning to Baku, he worked as a production director at the Young Spectators Theater, and as a production director and artistic director at the Garyagin (Fuzuli) State Drama Theater.
Since 1936, he has worked at "Azerbaijanfilm". In 1936, he laid the foundation for the art of dubbing in Azerbaijan by translating the film "Chapayev" (1934) into Azerbaijani, and worked as a second director, director and scriptwriter in cinema.
Honored Artist Shua Sheykhov died in 1970.
Director Shua Sheykhov is the brother of sound operator Aziz Sheykhov.
Director Shua Sheykhov is the father of singer Natavan Sheykhova and actor Ramiz Sheykhov.
