Shovgi Huseynov was born in Jalilabad.

He studied at the Drama and Film Acting Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1989-1994).

He worked at the Baku Chamber Theater (1991-2009). Since 2009, he has been an actor of the Azerbaijan State Theater for Young Spectators, and since 2014, of the Academic Musical Theater. Since 2000, he has also been engaged in dubbing and voice-over work.

Since 2018, he has been engaged in pedagogical activities, teaching at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.

He was awarded the “Golden Dervish” award (1996), the “Best Actor” award of the II Experimental Performances Festival (1999), the “Best Young Actor of the Year” award (2000), the “Best Actor” award of the Monoplays Festival (2002), the “Best Actor” award of the International Comedy Festival (2003, Isfahan / Iran), the “Best Actor” award of the International “Iran Zamin” Theater Festival (2004, Ahvaz / Iran), the “Zirve” award (2015), the “Stanislavsky” medal (2015 / Kalmykia), the “Sima” award (2016).

He is an Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2002), an Honored Artist of the Republic of Kalmykia (2016).
Actor Shovgi Huseynov is the husband of actress Shabnam Huseynova.
