Sabir Alasgarov was born in Tbilisi and grew up with his grandmother in Gazakh from the age of 6.

He studied at the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute of Russian Language and Literature (1961).

He was the chief announcer of radio (1966–1972) and television (1972–1990) at the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee, and worked as the head of the announcers' department of television (1990–2006). He was the host of various programs.

Honored Artist (1990), People's Artist (1998) Sabir Alasgarov died in 2020.
