Ramiz Guliyev

Ramiz Guliyev was born in Aghdam.

He studied tar and conducting at the Agdam city 7-year music school (1954), Agdam secondary specialized music school (1963-1964), and Azerbaijan State Conservatory (1964-1969).

During his years at the Agdam music school, he participated in competitions and festivals as part of the “Shur” folk musical instrument ensemble, and in the “Exhibition of National Economic Achievements” held in Moscow (1961). He was the head of the tar club at the regional pioneer house and the head of the music section at the Agdam State Drama Theater. He worked as a teacher, senior teacher, associate professor, professor, and head of the department (1992-2002) at Agdam No. 1 (1963-1964), Baku No. 1 and 20 music schools (1965-1974), and at the Department of Folk Musical Instruments of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (1974-1992). He was a soloist of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic and the State Concert Union (1964-1994).

In 1974, he was awarded the first prize at the Transcaucasian Festival of Musicians, the title of laureate at the V All-Union Competition of Pop Artists held in Moscow, the “Humay” National Prize (1993), the Azerbaijan State Prize (2014). He is a laureate of the “Shohrat” (2007) and “Sharaf” (2017) orders.

Honored Artist (1982), People's Artist (1988) Ramiz Guliyev died in 2025 and was buried in the II Alley of Honor.
