Ramiz Akhundov was born in Baku.
He studied at the Acting Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute (1960).
In 1960, he began working on television. For a while, he was the chief director of the Puppet Theater (1964-1965). In 1965, he returned to television and worked as a director on Azerbaijani television for a long time (1965-1993).
Ramiz Akhundov died in 2015.
Director Ramiz Akhundov was the husband of journalist Elmira Akhundova.
