Gorkhmaz Alilijanzadeh (Gorkhmaz Alili) was born in the Mashtaga village of Baku.

He studied at the Drama and Film Actor Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1979).

He was a laureate of the republican variety artist competition (1983) and international variety artist competitions (1985, 1987). He founded the Miniature Theater (1985) and the Azerbaijan Variety Theater (1990). He is the artistic director and director of this theater. Many young singers were discovered in the "7-17" competition held for many years under his organization and in his own entertainment program "Show Alili". In 1991, he held the "Oxsharlar" festival for the first time, and in 1992, the republican meykhana competition. In 1999, the II Republican Meykhana Competition was held under his leadership. He works as a showman, singer, and researcher.

For some time, he taught at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art.

He worked as a senior researcher at the Institute of Architecture and Art at ANAS. He is a Doctor of Philosophy in Art History. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Architecture and Art of ANAS, Chairman of the Trade Union Committee.

Since 2014, he has started inventing new national musical instruments, and has invented 5 national musical instruments: albuta, gorbuta, janbuta, jangor, algor.

He is an Honored Artist (2019).

Actor Gorkhmaz Alilijanzadeh is the son of actor and director Mammad Alili.
