Novruz Gartal

Novruz Gartal (Novruz Aliyev) was born in West Azerbaijan. In 1964, he moved to Baku with his family.

He studied at the Acting Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1966-1971).

While in high school, he performed in a drama club. He began his career in 1965 as a laborer in the Technical Supply Department. Since 1967, he has worked at the Azerbaijan State Musical Comedy Theater. His first role was the role of the Troop in the play “Whose Wedding is It” by Aghasi Mashadibeyov and Maharram Alizadeh (1968). In 1989, he was invited to the Baku Municipal “Tengid-Tabligh” Theater. Since 1996, he has continued his work at the Azerbaijan State Musical Comedy Theater, becoming the head of the acting troupe (1996-2022).

Honored Artist (2013) Novruz Gartal died in 2022 and was buried at the "Imamzadeh" cemetery in Ganja.
