Nizami Ramzi (Nizami Bakhshiyev) was born in Baku. Originally from Khizi.
He studied at the Baku Trade Technical School (1967).
He made many innovations in the meykhana genre. In 1988, he founded the “Meykhana” folklore ensemble. For the first time, he demonstrated the meykhana genre in front of a wide audience at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic and the Palace of the Republic. He first brought meykhana to television screens (“Dalga” program) and abroad. He shot the first clip in the meykhana genre. For the first time, he performed duets with female singers, the music and lyrics of which belonged to him. He also recorded the synthesis of meykhana with jazz accompanied by the State Song Theater ensemble, thereby laying the foundation for “jazz-meykhana”. The songs he composed are performed by singers.
Nizami Ramzi died in a road accident in 1997.
