Nazakat Mammadova was born in Ganja.

She studied at the Baku Musical Technical School named after Asaf Zeynalli (1966) and the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts.

For a while, she worked in the “Lala” girls’ ensemble. In 1968, she was accepted into the Opera and Ballet Theater and in 1971, she appeared before the audience as one of the new Leylis. She was known as a skilled performer of the mughams “Rast”, “Qatar”, “Shahnaz”, “Segah”, songs and tasnifs.

During a cosmetic surgery in Sochi, a dermatologist’s mistake – the knife hitting the jugular vein in the throat – led to the singer’s death.

Honored Artist (1974) Nazakat Mammadova died in 1980.
