Nazim Baykishiyev was born in Baku.
He studied at the Painting Department of the Azim Azimzade Art School (1969), and the Theater Artist Department of the Moscow State Institute of Theater Arts (1970-1975, class of Sergey Obraztsov).
He worked as a production artist at the Baku State Art Gallery, the Orzhenikidze City Puppet Theater and the Russian Drama Theater, as an artist and chief artist at the Sumgayit State Musical Drama Theater, the Azerbaijan State Musical Comedy Theater, and the Azerbaijan State Youth Theater. Since 2001, he has been working as a chief artist at the Academic National Drama Theater.
Laureate of the State Prize (1984), Honored Artist (2002), People's Artist (2006) Nazim Baykishiyev died in 2025.
