Mikayil Mikayilov was born in Baku.
He studied at the Film Directing Faculty of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art (2000-2004, magistracy 2004-2006).
He worked as a director and actor in the Musical Comedy (1996-1998), Pantomime (1999-2004), Yugh Theaters (since 2005).
He is currently the chief director of the Yugh Theater.
He starred in the Russian-produced TV series “Russian Translation” (2006, directed by Alexander Chernyayev) and “Marriage with a Will” (2009, directed by Vasily Serikov).
He was awarded the “Best Young Director of the Year” (2005), “Best Young Film Actor of the Year” (2004) and “Zirve” awards (2013).
Director, actor Mikayil Mikayilov is the son of actress Sonakhanim Mikayilova.
