Maryam Seyidbayli

Maryam Seyidbayli was born in Baku.
She studied at the Department of Arabic Language and Literature of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Azerbaijan State University.
In 1981, she began working as a junior research worker at the Department of Ancient History of Azerbaijan of the Institute of History of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. In 1983, she continued her work at the Department of Medieval History of Azerbaijan (III–XII centuries). As an Arabic translator, she periodically went on business trips to Algeria, Syria, and Libya (1980–1986). In 2003, she was appointed head of the "Azerbaijani Diaspora" department. In 2014, she was appointed director of the Institute of History of Science of ANAS. She is a Doctor of Historical Sciences (2013), professor (2021). She was awarded the "Humay" national award (2011).
She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Azerbaijan Film Directors Guild.
Historian, actress Maryam Seyidbayli is the daughter of director Hasan Seyidbayli.
