Marat Hagverdiyev

Marat Hagverdiyev was born in Baku.
He studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute (1956-1961).
During his student years, he toured as a soloist of the institute's folk instrument ensemble and pop orchestra. After completing his education, he worked in the construction field for a short time. For about 40 years of his life, he worked in various positions at the Department for the Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments under the Ministry of Culture.
In the 1970s, he translated the works of his translator mother, Jahan Efruz, into Russian. After his mother passed away, he began writing fiction himself. His plays were staged in various theaters.
He is an Honored Worker of Culture (2018).
