Mammad Rahim (Mammad Huseynov) was born in Baku.
He studied at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute (1928-1932).
While a student, he worked as a translator at "Azernashr" (1928-1931). He began his pedagogical activity at the 1st Baku Five-Year Soviet School (1931-1935). He was the head of the poetry section and organizational secretary (1938-1940), head of the poetry section (1947-1950; 1951-1952), head of the defense section (1941-1946) in the Union of Writers of Azerbaijan. In 1926, his first poem "Gördüm" was published, and in 1930, his first book of poems "Arzular" (Dreams). He actively appeared in the periodical press. He is the author of more than 30 books. He made translations. His works have been translated into a number of foreign languages.
Honored Artist (1940), Honored Cultural Worker of Armenia (1970), State Prize Laureate (1949), People's Poet (1957) Mammad Rahim died in 1977 and was buried in the Alley of Honor.
