Maila Muradkhanli (Maila Muradkhanova) was born in Salyan.

She studied at the journalism department of the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1957-1962).

She began her career at the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, where she was assigned, as a junior editor of the children's programs department of the radio, worked as an editor (1962-1967), head of the literary drama programs, art, fiction departments (1967-1972), editor-in-chief of the literary and drama programs (1972-1994), editor-in-chief of the literary drama programs of television (1994-2010). She was the host of the "Zarif Charshenba" program on ANS television, editor-in-chief of the "Bakufilm" film studio.

She worked as the secretary of the Azerbaijan Journalists' Union (1990-2010).

She entered the literature with her translations and essays published in periodicals (1962). The play “Do not condemn me” was staged in Sumgayit (1990). Laureate of the “Golden Pen” award (1967), Honored Journalist (1989) Maila Muradkhanli died in 2010.

Journalist Maila Muradkhanli was the wife of director Parviz Jafarov.
Journalist Maila Muradkhanli is the mother of director and actor Elkhan Jafarov.
