Kamal Abdullayev (Kamal Abdulla) was born in Baku.

He studied at the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1968-1973).

He was a postgraduate student at the Department of Turkic Languages ​​of the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1973-1976). He defended his candidate's dissertation entitled "Syntactic Parallelism" (on the language of the "Kitabi-Dede Gorgud" epics) in Moscow (1977), and his doctoral dissertation entitled "Theoretical Problems of the Syntax of the Azerbaijani Language" in Baku (1984). His novels, plays, stories, essays, poems, and translations have been published. He is the author of more than 200 articles, more than 20 scientific books, textbooks, and monographs. He has conducted lectures and special courses on “General Linguistics”, “Text Syntax”, “Cultural Aspects of the Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” epics at universities in various countries.
