Jalil Javanshir (Jalil Hajiyev) was born in the village of Khachmaz, Oghuz region.

He studied German at the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of Ganja State University (2004-2008).

He began his journalistic career as a student. He collaborated with various print media: “Tohfa”, “Turkustan”, “Vetandas Hamreyliyi”, “Adalat”, “Gundalik Telegraf” newspapers, “Alatoran”, “Molla Nasreddin Dunyas”, “Yurddan Salar”, “Pirsultan”, “Dogguz ikilim”, “Envar Pasha” magazines, Publika.az news portal. He was the founder of the literary and artistic translation magazine “Palma”, the newspaper “Region Khabar”, the founder and head of the electronic literary magazine dogguziklim.net (2009-2010). He prepared the literature page of the “Center” newspaper (2011), was an editor in the “Publika Art” project (2012), was the editor-in-chief of the Mucru.art website (2020), and was a columnist for “Sputnik-Azerbaijan” (2020-2022).
He was engaged in folklore research for a while (2007-2011).
He worked as an expert at the Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2015-2019).
His poems have been translated into various languages. He has made literary translations from Turkish and German. More than 10 books have been published. Along with many of his translations, he translated Robert McKee’s book “The Story” about screenwriting into Azerbaijani (2021).
He was the editor-in-chief and translator of “Hadaf” Publications. He has been collaborating with “TEAS press” Publishing House as a translator and editor (since 2017). Editor-in-chief of the “Azerbaijani Literature” department at the “Qanun” Publishing House, head of the “Dinle Kitab” audio-book project since 2022. He has been collaborating as a translator and editor since 2012. Founder and director of the “Literary Agency” since 2023.
He took 2nd place in the poetry nomination at the 2nd Nasimi Literary Competition (2010).
