Ismayil Talibli was born in Baku.
He began his stage career in 1918. In 1919, he was accepted into the newly established Government Theater (now the Academic National Drama Theater). He worked at the Drama Theater, the Free Criticism and Propaganda Theater (Baku Turkish Worker and Peasant Theater, 1922-1932). In 1932, the Baku Turkish Worker Theater was transferred to Ganja. He also went to Ganja and worked in this theater - the Ganja State Drama Theater (1932-1967) until the end of his life. For a while, he was the director of this theater (1942-1943).
People's Artist (1940) Ismayil Talibli died in Ganja in 1967 and was buried in the ancient Savzakar (Sardabali) cemetery there.
