Imamverdi Baghirov was born in Baku.
He studied at a seven-year school.
He acted in various drama clubs, the Workers' Children's Theater (now the Young Spectators Theater, 1929-1930), the Irevan State Azerbaijan Theater (1930-1932), the National Drama Theater (1934, 1942-1954). He worked as an actor and director in the Kazakh (1938) and Guba (1939) Kolkhoz and Sovkhoz Theaters. He played roles in the Musical Comedy Theater (1954-1956). When the theater resumed its activities as a state enterprise in 1956, he became one of the leading actors of its troupe. Since 1956, he has been working in the Musical Comedy Theater for 19 years without interruption.
