Huseyn Javid

Huseyn Javid (Huseyn Rasizade) was born in the village of Shahtakhti, now Kangarli district of Nakhchivan.
He received his primary education at the mullah school in Nakhchivan, and his secondary education at the "Mektabi-terbiye" school (1894-1898). He was in South Azerbaijan in 1899-1903, and continued his education at the "Talibiye" madrasah in Tabriz. He graduated from the Literature Department of Istanbul University (1906-1909).
He taught in Nakhchivan, Ganja and Tbilisi, and from 1915 in Baku.
His first book of poems, "Bygone Days", was published in 1913. He is the author of lyrical poems, lyrical-epic, epic poems, and the first verse tragedies and dramas in Azerbaijani literature. He is best known as a playwright. His philosophical and historical tragedies, family and domestic dramas created a new stage in Azerbaijani dramaturgy in terms of style, writing style and form innovation.
In 1926, he went to Germany for treatment and lived in Berlin for 7 months.
In 1937, he was exiled to Siberia.
He died in 1941 in the village of Shevchenko, Tayshet district, Irkutsk region.
In 1956, he was acquitted by the verdict of the Supreme Court of the Azerbaijan SSR.
On the instructions of Heydar Aliyev, his body was brought to Nakhchivan on October 26, 1982, and buried in front of his house.
Playwright Huseyn Javid is the father of composer Ertoghrul Javid and theater critic Turan Javid.
