Gulshan Salimova was born in Baku.

She studied at the Cultural and Educational Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1977-1982).

Since 1972, she has worked as an editor at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio, and since 1980, as an editing master. She was the head of the department at the State Film Fund (2011-2023).

She taught at the Department of Cinema and Television Arts of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (1992-2013).

She is an Honored Worker of Culture (2006).
