Gulhuseyn Huseynoghlu (Gulhuseyn Abdullayev) was born in the village of Mollaoba, Masalli.
He studied at the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1942-1947).
He was accepted to graduate school, but was arrested and sentenced to 25 years in prison. He was one of the founders of the anti-Soviet "Ildirim" organization, which was created in 1942 to fight the Soviet regime and gain Azerbaijan's independence. The organization's goal was to gain Azerbaijan's independence, to achieve the acquittal of writers who were branded as enemies of the people and sent to Siberia to be shot, and to raise Azerbaijani Turkish to the level of the state language. He was sentenced to be shot by the Supreme Court. Since the shooting sentence was temporarily lifted in those years, the sentence was replaced with 25 years in prison and exiled to Siberia. After 8 years of imprisonment, in 1955 he returned home and was reinstated in graduate school.
He began his career as a literary worker in the editorial office of the "Kommunist" newspaper (1942). He worked in the editorial office of the "Literature Newspaper" (1945–1947), in the pedagogical department of the Young Audience Theater (1947–1948). He taught at school No. 18 named after Mikayil Mushfig. Since 1957, he has connected his fate with Azerbaijan State University, working as a teacher, senior teacher, associate professor and professor at the Department of Modern Azerbaijani Literature of the Faculty of Philology. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, head of the prose department of the Union.
His first story "Mother" was published in 1944, and his first prose poem "The Legend of Violet" was published in 1946. He is the author of a scientific monograph about Mikayil Mushfig, many research articles, and about thirty books. Although he wrote essays, stories and scientific research works, prose poems and stories occupy the main place in his artistic creativity. He is known as the creator of prose poetry in Azerbaijani literature.
Doctor of Philology, Professor (1988), People's Writer (2005) Gulhuseyn Huseynoglu died in 2013 and was buried in the Second Alley of Honor.
