Flora Karimova was born in Baku.

She studied at the Baku Musical College named after Asaf Zeynalli (1964), the Medical Department of the Azerbaijan State Medical Institute (1971), and the Vocal Department of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (1977).

From the age of 14, she performed in amateur groups, the “Chinar” ensemble of the Medical Institute, and the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic. She performed in the role of Leyli (“Leyli and Majnun”) at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater (1966). Since 1983, she has been a soloist of the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.

She was an activist of the Freedom Movement (1989–1992).

She was awarded the Order of "Sharaf" (2021).
