Firudin Aghayev was born in Lankaran.
He studied at the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1953-1958).
He began his career as an editor at the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee (1958), then became the editor-in-chief of the radio children's programs editorial office (1960-1963), deputy editor-in-chief of the television children's programs editorial office (1963-1966), deputy editor-in-chief of the art programs editorial office (1966-1968), editor-in-chief of the children and youth programs editorial office (1968), editor of the stage programs editorial office (1968-1969), editor-in-chief of the "Injasanat" (Art) editorial office (1969-1970), member of the editorial board of the "Ekran" creative union (1970-1971), editor-in-chief (1971-1973), editor-in-chief of the musical programs editorial office (1973-1976), senior editor of the entertainment program editorial office (1976), editor of the group preparing the "Ganjlik" editorial program (1976-1978), department head in the literary broadcasts editorial office (1978-1991), senior editor of the cinema broadcasts editorial office (1991-1995).
He began his literary career in 1953 with essays and stories published in the university's newspaper "For the Education of Lenin". The story "Mother's Letter" was published in the newspaper "Azerbaijani Youth" in 1956. After that, he worked in the field of essays, stories, novels, plays and screenplays. The plays "Care", "Samandar Bird", "Adventures of the Dwarf", "Rooster" were staged.
Firudin Aghayev died in 1995.
Writer Firudin Aghayev is the father of director Namig Aghayev.
