Firangiz Gurbanova was born in Baku.

She studied at the Azim Azimzade Art School (1961-1965), and at the Cinematography Art Faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1965-1971).

Since 1971, she has worked as an artist in feature films, an artist in animated films, an author and director at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio.

She is the founder and head of the “Birlik” animation studio (since 1989).

He was awarded the "Golden Boat" (Gizil Gayig) award for his contribution to Azerbaijani animation at the II Animafilm International Animation Festival (2019). Honored Artist (2000), Professor of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts (since 2003).
