Fikret Sadig (Fikret Sadigov) was born in Shamakhi.
He studied at an art school in Baku (1946), an evening school in Kurdamir (1955), and the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1956-1961).
He worked as an electrical fitter in the Naftalan settlement of the Ganja oil exploration, in the oil exploration area in Tartar (1946-1952), a film mechanic in Baku, a village teacher in Shamakhi, a literary worker in the editorial office of the Shamakhi district newspaper, a senior laboratory assistant in the Department of History of Azerbaijani Literature of Azerbaijan State University, a scientific editor, head of department in the General Editorial Office of the Azerbaijan Soviet Encyclopedia, a chief editor in the Department of the Union of Scientific, Popular and Documentary Films at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio, director of the Bureau for the Promotion of Fiction at the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union (1961-1975), a member of the board, chairman of the inspection and acceptance commissions, a poetry consultant, and chairman of the Shirvan branch.
He began his literary career during his student years with the poems "Artist" and "Mother's Hand", which were published in the almanac "Songs of Youth" by the university publishing house.
Honored Cultural Worker (1986), State Prize Laureate (1990) Fikret Sadig died in 2016 and was buried in the Yasamal cemetery.
Poet Fikret Sadig is the father of writer and screenwriter Orkhan Fikretoghlu.
