Fatma Mehraliyeva was born in Guba.

Her secondary school teachers sent her to Baku to participate in a music festival. The 11-year-old girl attracted the attention of Uzeyir Hajibeyov by performing the folk song “Guba’s White Apple” at the festival. She began her creative activity in the “Sazchi qızlar” ensemble under the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic (1940). During the war years, her mournful voice began to attract love and introduce her performer to the music samples written by Uzeyir bey on the theme of patriotism. Her name became a household name as the first performer of Uzeyir Hajibeyov’s song “Sister of Mercy” composed to the words of Samad Vurgun. The lyrical soprano gained fame as a skilled performer of mugham, folk songs and tasnifs, as well as composer’s songs. She performed on the stage of the Philharmonic for many years. She is a skilled connoisseur of Azerbaijani mughams, an indispensable performer of “Kesme shikaste”.
