Farhad Badalbeyli

Farhad Badalbeyli was born in Baku.
He studied at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (1965-1969, class of M. Brenner), and at the postgraduate course of the Moscow State Conservatory (1969-1971, class of B. Davidovich).
He was awarded the III prize at the B. Smetana competition and the prize for the best performer of Smetana's work (1967, Czechoslovakia) and the laureate title at the Vianna da Motta International Piano Competition (1968, Lisbon / Portugal). He was the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Musical Society (1986-1989). On his initiative, the Baku Art Center (he was its head in 1987-1996) and the Society of Musicians of Azerbaijan (he has been its chairman since 1989) were established. Since 1971, he has been teaching at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (associate professor since 1976, professor since 1983). Since 1991, the Conservatory has been transformed into the Baku Academy of Music.
He is currently the rector of the Baku Academy of Music.
Honored Artist (1972), People's Artist (1978), People's Artist of the USSR (1990), laureate of the State Prize of Azerbaijan (1986), "Shohrat" (1997), "Istiglal" (2017) and "Sharaf" (2022) orders.
Composer Farhad Badalbeyli is the son of theater director and actor Shamsi Badalbeyli.
