Asgar Mammadov was born in the village of Marzili, Aghdam region.
He studied at the Azim Azimzade Art School (1965-1969), the Animation Directing Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK, 1971-1976).
He worked at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio (1976-1990). He has worked on about 15 documentary and animated films.
His works as an artist have been exhibited in various countries of the world.
He is an Honored Artist of Azerbaijan and Russia.
