Elmir Mirzayev

Elmir Mirzayev was born in Baku.
He studied at the Composition class of the Baku Academy of Music (1994, Faraj Garayev's class).
He completed specialization under the guidance of composers James Dillon and Ole Lützow-Holm (1994, Sweden). He participated in the V Meeting of Young Composers organized by Louis Andriessen, Michael Smetanin and Ensemble de Ereprijs in the Netherlands (1999). He worked as an assistant to Faraj Garayev at the Baku Academy of Music (1998-2001), as an assistant to York Höller at the Cologne Conservatory within the framework of a special program of the DAAD organization (since 2007). In 1995, he was the founder and artistic director of the SoNoR Contemporary Music Ensemble (since 1998, the Contemporary Music Initiative Center) (1995-2005). He was an organizer of international projects and a participant in various international festivals. His works have been performed by world-famous collectives.
