Eldar Bakhish (Eldar Aghayev) was born in the village of Dilali Muskanli, Gubadli.

He studied at the Faculty of History of Azerbaijan State University (1965-1969).

He taught in the villages of Baku. He worked as a junior editor, editor (1972-1988) at the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, and as a senior editor of the television performances department of the editorial office of literary and drama programs of television (1988-1990). He founded the newspapers "Ses" and "Nefes" and was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Ses" (1990-1992). He again worked as the head of the socio-political department of the Youth Creative Union at the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (1992-1993). He was the editor-in-chief of the radio's information and children's world programs (1993-1996).

His first poem, "Shirt", was published in the newspaper "Azerbaijani Youth" (1966). Since then, he has been a regular contributor to periodicals. He has translated selected works into Azerbaijani. The play "Malikmuhammed" was staged (1982).

Eldar Bakhish died in 1996 and was buried in the Khirdalan cemetery.

Poet Eldar Bakhish is the father of actor Tural Aghayev.
