Elchin Shikhli

Elchin Shikhli (Elchin Shikhlinski) was born in Baku.
He studied at the English Department of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages, specializing in English and German language teachers (1974-1979).
He worked as an inspector of the Information and Advertising Department of the Foreign Tourism Department under the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan SSR (1979), a translator in the Baku branch of the "Intourist" UJC (1981), a referent of the Department of Relations with Compatriots Living Abroad of the Society for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries of Azerbaijan (1981-1986), a secretary of the Board of the Ministry of Education of the Azerbaijan SSR (1986-1988), a chief referent in the Administration of the Board of the Azerbaijan Republic Branch of the Soviet Children's Fund named after V. Lenin (1988-1989), a literary worker in the "Azerbaijan Communist" - "Kommunist Azerbaydzhana" magazine (1989-1990), a deputy editor-in-chief in the editorial office of the "Ayna" - "Zerkalo" newspapers (1990-1998), and the president of the "Ayna Press House" company (1999-2001).
In 2001-2014, he was the editor-in-chief of the newspapers "Ayna" and "Zerkalo". In 2016, he founded the website ayna.az and Ayna TV.
He is the chairman of the Union of Journalists of Azerbaijan (since 2006).
Journalist Elchin Shikhli is the son of writer Ismayil Shikhli.
