Ahmad Oghuz (Ahmad Karimov) was born in the village of Gizil Shafag, Kalinino district, Western Azerbaijan.
He studied at the Faculty of Language and Literature of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute (1978-1982).
He worked as a language and literature teacher in the villages of Hajigaib, Guba district, Azerbaijan, and Soyugbulag, Kalinino district, Armenia (1985-1989).
After being forcibly expelled from his ancestral homeland in Armenia, he worked as a correspondent in the editorial office of the "Azerbaijan" newspaper (1989-1990), head of the poetry department in the "Khazar" magazine (1991-1992), executive secretary in the editorial office of the "Oguz eli" newspaper (1992-1993), and head of the speech department in the main editorial office of radio folk creativity at the Azerbaijan Radio and Television Broadcasting Company (1993-2021).
His first poem, “Pomegranate Tree,” was published in the magazine “Ulduz” in 1981. His first book of poems, “Where Are You Going, Mountains?”, was published in 1998.
“Humay” Award laureate Ahmad Oghuz passed away in 2021.
