Boyukagha Mammadov

Boyukagha Mammadov was born in Baku.
He studied at the Directing Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1968-1973).
He was sent to the Omsk region of the Russian Federation by assignment. He worked as a director on television in Omsk for several years. In 1976, he began working as a director at the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Committee. At that time, he directed various documentaries commissioned by the USSR Central State Television and Radio Committee. He was one of the founders of the “215 KL” experimental studio, one of the first independent studios in the republic (1991). In 1994, he was elected chairman of the studio’s board of directors. He was awarded the “Araz” State Prize for his work as a director in the multi-series documentary “Return” filmed there.
In 1997, he participated in the creation of the “Space” Independent Television channel and headed the channel as its executive director. For his role in the creation of the “Space” TV channel, he was awarded the “Zardabi” Prize of the Azerbaijan Journalists’ Union.
In 2000, he returned to the independent television company “215 KL” and produced new documentaries there.
In 2009-2014, he worked as the director of the “Salname” documentary film studio of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He was the head of the “Kultura Plus” internet television.
He is an Honored Artist (2011).
