Bakhtiyar Garaja

Bakhtiyar Garaja (Bakhtiyar Balakishiyev) was born in the Amiralilar village of Khojavend.
He entered the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1976), continued his education at the Journalism Faculty of Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov (1979-1982).
He worked as an editor at the State Publishing Committee (1982-1989), editor, department head, editor-in-chief at the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee (1989-2006), department head at the “Azerbaijan” newspaper (2010-2016), deputy director of the Culture TV channel (2016-2017), head of the Department of Author Programs and Special Projects at Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC (2019).
He is the author of the books “Meteor Rains”, “Between Earth and Sky”, “Independence Thoughts”, numerous articles, feature and documentary films.
He has been a member of the Audiovisual Council since 2019.
He was awarded the Supreme Media Award and the "Progress" medal (2010).
