Aliagha Aghayev was born in Baku.

He studied at a seven-year secondary school (1930) and at an art school opened at the ship repair plant named after the Paris Commune (1930-1932).

While studying at school, he spent his free time in the drama club of water transport workers. His first role here was Haji Gara in the comedy “Haji Gara” (Mirza Fatali Akhundzade). After graduating from the art school, he started working as a locksmith at the plant. In 1936, he joined the newly opened Young Spectator Theater. He first appeared on stage in a professional theater as Dlk in the play “Captain Grant's Children” (Jules Verne). He worked at the Azerbaijan State Young Spectator Theater (1936-1961) and the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater (1961-1983).

He played the role of a spectator in the film "My Kind Father" (1970, directed by Igor Usov) by Russian filmmakers, and the role of a cafe owner in the film "The Last Inch" (1958, directed by Teodor Vulfovich, Nikita Kurikhin).

Honored Artist (1943), People's Artist (1954) Aliaga Agayev, who was laughing and telling jokes at the table with his fans and friends, closed his eyes forever in 1983 and was buried in the Yasamal cemetery.
