Aliabbas Gadirov (Alabbas Gadirov) was born in Baku.
While studying at high school, he was a member of the drama collective led by Agadadash Gurbanov at the Railwaymen Club. He studied at the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute (1965-1970, Mehdi Mammadov's course).
During his student years, as a full-time actor of the Educational Theater, he played the roles of Surkhay in "Aydin" (Jafar Jabbarli), Fyodor in the play "Azer" (Huseyn Javid) and "Tabylchi Qiz" (Afanasi Salinsky). When he was in his final year, Mehdi Mammadov invited him to the role of Yusif in the tragedy "Khayyam" (Huseyn Javid) staged at the Academic Theater. In 1970, he became an actor at the National Drama Theater. He hosted the "Torch" program for youth on television. He was the first host of the "Journey to the World of Comedies" program.
He was also engaged in pedagogical activity for many years: he taught at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art.
He was awarded the State Prize for the role of Nazim in the film "Bay of Joy" (1978).
In the last years of his life, he was the artistic director and director of the Academic National Drama Theater (2001-2006).
Laureate of the State Prize (1978), Honored Artist (1982), People's Artist (1989), laureate of the "Golden Dervish" award (1997) and the "Shohrat" order (2006), Professor Aliabbas Gadirov died in 2006. He was buried in the II Alley of Honor.
