Aghakishi Kazimov was born in the village of Agjabadi, Agjabadi.

He studied at the Acting Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute (1952-1957).

He first appeared on stage in the role of a fugitive episode at the National Drama Theater (1952, “Vagif” Samad Vurgun). In 1956, he became a full-time employee. He became a laureate of the All-Union Theater Festival for the role of Barat in the play “Almaz” (Jafar Jabbarli) (1957). He also successfully played this role in the Decade of Azerbaijani Literature and Art held in Moscow in 1959. In 1960, he was sent to the Guba State Drama Theater as a chief director. In the same year, he was invited back to the Academic Theater as an actor. In 1964, he was hired as a master of artistic recitation at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic. In different years, he was the head of the drama club at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute (1956-1960), the head of the "Youth Theater" at the Azerbaijan State University (1958-1964). In 1964, he was admitted to the Directing Faculty of the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography. On the eve of his diploma work, he prepared the drama "Duel" at the Tatarstan State Academic Drama Theater in Kazan, and as his diploma work, the work "Aydin" in Tatar. He was sent to the Sumgayit State Drama Theater as a director (1969-1970). He served as the chief director there for a while (1971-1973). He worked as the chief director at the Azerbaijan State Musical Comedy Theater (1974-1975), the Young Spectator Theater (1975-1983, 1990-2002), and as a production director at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater (1973-1974), and the Academic National Drama Theater.

Since 1977, he has taught acting and directing at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.

Honored Art Worker (1987), People's Artist (2000), Professor (2001) Aghakishi Kazimov died in 2021.

Theater director Aghakishi Kazimov is the husband of actress Mehriban Abdullayeva.
